Tessera serves individuals with autism at every life stage, from childhood to adulthood. To provide residential living for people ready to be more independent, we purchased our first rental home: 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath home on 1.2 acres in Woodinville. The home was expertly remodeled for accessibility and it’s close to community transit, the library, shopping and a park. This home is rented to four young adults age 18 and older who want a more independent living environment. Around-the-clock staffing support by Alpha Supported Living Services creates a setting in which these young adults can live, learn, grow and become contributing members of their community.
Obviously, more than a handful of young adults would benefit from this type of living situation. And tessera will make this dream a reality for more people as we buy more homes. Our goal is to purchase two more rental homes by 2010. Your involvement will help us achieve that goal. Donate or volunteer today.
This tessera rental home was professionally remodeled for accessibility by the renowned Susan Duncan from ADAptations, Inc. Special features include zero-step entrances; automatic door openers; an elevator to the second floor; curbless, roll-in showers; a certified bypass and 700-watt generator; and walk-in closets!
